precious secondary school

We believe we can as precious blood girl’s secondary school

According to the stereotype on traditional role on Africa society especially on empower women, there was believe  that women generally are afraid of educated ; if this is the case then the ‘Precious Blood Girls Secondary School’ of Arusha will scare the male population in Tanzania rigid.

The school topped the entire Northern Zone in the Secondary Education Examinations of 2013 (in which it was the fourth countrywide), and if that is not scary enough for men here, then they better understand that the girls at this school strictly major in Mathematics Science Subjects.
In previous exams (2012) Precious Blood Girls was in the sixth position but the following year (2013) as far as the 2014 results were concerned, the school climbed up to number 4 nationwide, beating more than 5000 secondary schools in the process.
The results placed the all-girls school at Number One spot in the entire North-West zone comprising of Tanga, Arusha, Manyara and Kilimanjaro all the way up to Singida where nearly 400 secondary schools are mapped.

Precious Blood school is located more than 20 kilometres from Arusha city, along the main Moshi-Arusha highway, branching off at a place known as ‘Saw-Mill’ in Kilala area and deep into the forested Njoro Village of Poli-Sing’si ward in Meru District.
On speaking with head of school, they believe, good environment is the source of success to their students, glancing environment was quietly greenish with a deep silence heavy enough to hear bird’s whistle everywhere.
“For us environment is the best option that we chosen to deal with, we believe that the conducive environment kept more impulse to our students to study well,” said the school Principal Sister Hiltruda Mumburi.
The school is famous because come September and the parents the entire East African region will be flocking to its campus, fighting to get vacancies for their daughters, knowing very well that all products from the institution are guaranteed academic success … in sciences.
“we have the continues   assessment for our students to compete on different activities with others school like mazindeju,Mario, iliboru and Marion, especial on game and sports and also on examination: we have putted so as to encouraged our student to do the best on their studies, the matter of the success relied on the fitness physical and mental, “said Sister Hiltruda

In the recent National Exams results the school had 64 candidates and believe it or not, 59 of them scored Division One grades with the remaining 5 getting Division 2.
Among the top girls there were the cream top-three who were awarded 1 million/- each for their efforts. On the 12 of April 2014 during special parents’ day, it will be the turn of the teachers to be recognized for their hard work.
Mr Marco Brown the secretary of the Parents’ Association said it is not a miracle that the students top performance, because at Precious Blood, class days extend to weekends with exception of Sundays.
The girls future ambitions range from wanting to become pilots, engineers, astronauts, doctors, researchers and other division of sciences; you won’t find anybody there aspiring to be a pop star, movie actor or even (sigh) journalist.
But their main secret of success, according to the Principal is discipline, strict discipline both for teachers and students; “ We have over 360 students in ordinary level classes of Form OnFour each with two streams dubbed ‘East’ and ‘West,’” said Sr Mumburi.
Owned by the Catholic order of the Precious Blood Sisters, the school also has more than 20 teachers and despite being a girls’ institution, there are more male teachers than their female counterparts.
Mrs Margaret Martin is one of the parents at the school and advises other institutions to emulate ‘Precious Blood’ example in maintaining discipline among students.
“two way symmetrical between students, parents, teachers and works around the school is the crucial way that led into our success,” said Sr Mumburi
She also added that “I advised parents to take their responsibilities for their children , because they are one who make decision on their future of their children,”.
The Prime Minister, Mr Mizengo Pinda, who visited the school in the late 2009, awarded the Precious Blood Girls with a premier award for discipline.
